Are you alerted to common industrial chemicals such as BPA, lead, pthalate which can cause serious health problems in manufacturing laminated fabric?

Make sure you have chosen the safe laminate fabric which has stated with “CPSIA compliant” to make childrenswear, especially for ages 12 or under (who are more likely to have allergic problems).

The following designer fabric brands like Robert Kaufman, Riley Blake or Alexander Henry have got their official safety proof by testing their laminate fabrics against the CPSIA requirements under US law.

So keep your children safe with your handmade totes, raincoats, baby bibs, playmats, bags etc.

Laminiate Your Own Fabric at Home

There have been times that you have found the fabric pattern for ages, but the fabric is not provided in laminated waterproof material. What can you do? Send the fabrics to company and have it laminated, but they don’t accept small quantity order or they charge for unworthy postage fee.

I have found a material that you can turn your favourite fabric easily into a laminated fabric at home, by iron-on transfers. It also comes with either rough or smooth coating.

How to use:

1. Place the foil with the smooth side on the fabric to be laminated

2. slowly iron the paper side with medium heat without steam at 120-140 degrees Celcius. Apply a little pressure

3. Allow material to cool down completely

4. Slowly peel off the paper

If the foil doesn’t stick completely to the fabric, just put the paper back on and repeat ironing
